Peter Cleary obtained degrees in Commerce and Law from the University of Melbourne 1981 and soon after embarked on a career in the natural resources industry.
In his early career as in house counsel, he advised on a range of issues in the mining industry. On joining BP in 1985, he extended into LNG shipping, petroleum exploration and production fields.
Mr Cleary started his international career in 1987 when posted to Jakarta. He has held commercial roles in chemicals, pipeline gas projects and LNG.
While Asian business has been a consistent theme throughout his career, the past 10 years have been in the LNG field with postings in Abu Dhabi, Hong Kong and Korea.
He is President of North West Shelf Australia LNG, the marketing arm of that Venture.
